Our Services

A low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assembly (ASSEMBLY) is a combination of low-voltage switching devices together with associated equipment (for controlling, measuring, signalling, etc.) complete with all the internal mechanical and electrical interconnections and structural parts. As with every component of an electrical installation, the ASSEMBLY also has to comply with its appropriate standard.

In January 2009 the IEC- 61439, the new standard for low- voltage switchgear and control gear Assemblies, was published. This was the aim of an international project group that had been working on a task named “radical restructuring and revision of IEC 60439 series” since 1998. This initiative was introduced by several countries following dissatisfaction with the IEC 60439 series. The purpose was to harmonise and define all general requirements for low-voltage electrical Assemblies.

Design of reactive power compensation panel is much different and not that simple like standard distribution panel. When dealing with such panels, there are dozens of parameters to specify and other things to take care of. MODUTEC could collaborate with you to empower this Type Testing together.

IEC 61921: (Power Capacitors- Low voltage power factor correction banks) is the international standard applicable for Low Voltage Power Factor Correction Banks and Automatic Power Factor Correction (APFC) equipments intended to be used for power factor correction purposes, equipped with built in switch gears and control gears.

Switchgear are important nodal points in modern power distribution. Consequently, important is their reliable functioning, a clearly defined switching operation according to specified parameters as well as the protection of personnel and protection against operational interruptions when an overload occurs.

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has taken up the task of developing the required specifications, with worldwide standardization and further evolving developments. The same applies to IEC 62271-200 – the standard for medium-voltage switchgear panels.

SIESMIC TEST

The 2012 International Building Code (IBC) specifies the requirements for a Switchboard to have passed the Siesmic Test requirements. These Siesmic tests are also generally done according to the standard IEEE Std.

344-1987 Recommended Practice for Seismic Qualification of Class 1E Equipment for Nuclear Power Generating Stations.

INTERNAL ARC TEST

If you specify an assembly as requiring an internal arc fault capability in accordance with IEC/TR 61641; what can you expect, what benefit will you get, are there more effective options for the particular application. MODUTEC provides some clarity.
